New START fundraisers to support interdisciplinary research at AU

START - Centre for Sustainable Agrifood Systems - has two new fundraisers on board. They will assist the START-engaged researchers at Aarhus University in applying for funding for interdisciplinary projects.

Christian Kvorning Lassen and Jacob Thyrsted Jensen, the two new fundraisers at START, are looking forward to supporting the researchers and contributing to interdisciplinary collaboration.

"Our job is to get AU-based researchers engaged in applying for funding for joint START projects. The first step for us is to identify where we fit into the START initiative and how we can support the AU-based START researchers in relation to interdisciplinary funding applications", says Jacob Thyrsted Jensen.

The two will approach the work with an increased focus on interdisciplinarity, which is in line with new trends in the research world.

Strengthening interdisciplinary research collaboration

Christian and Jacob come from different scientific backgrounds.

Christian holds a degree in History, European Studies and International Studies from Aarhus University and has previously worked as a project manager at Tech with the rollout of Tech's new fundraising strategy. Prior to that, he was the vice president of an independent EU policy think tank in Prague.

Jacob holds a degree in biology and a PhD in health sciences from Aarhus University. Jacob is also trained in Innovation and Design Thinking and has worked in two Aarhus-based tech startups.

As part of the START initiative, they will strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers from different faculties at Aarhus University:

"If you're at FOOD and would like an Arts or BSS researcher to join you, you can come to us, and we'll help you find the right person and vice versa. We've been around all the faculties and met the local scientific coordinators and fundraisers, and we have a network to help get new interdisciplinary projects started."
