Tech Talks
Tech Talks gives colleagues across Tech the opportunity to learn more about each other’s work. The initiative stems from Tech 2030 and the strategic focal point of creating impact through a collaborative culture built on trust and respect.

Tech Talks takes place online every fortnight and consists of a ten-minute presentation followed by a five-minute Q&A session.

Cultivated meat – a scientific overview
Jette Feveile Young will be introducing us to the concept of "Cultivated meat" - culturing cells outside the animal for meat production. She will introduce the rational for investigating this food-concept, give an insight into the principles of the production, and how she sees this being relevant for more research environments than "just" food science.

How to reduce the climate impact of buildings
Buildings are responsible for 37% of energy-related CO2 emissions that is causing the overstepping of the planetary boundary for climate change. We must therefore reduce the environmental load from buildings to a level that enables the regenerative properties of the planetary ecosystems to reestablish the safe operating space below the planetary boundaries. In this Tech Talk, Steffen Petersen from CAE explores the magnitude of reduction needed and some of the possible means to realise the reduction.

DEPARTMENT OF ECOSCIENCE
On land, at sea, and in the air – People, nature, and the Arctic environment
Christian Sonne is a professor at Department of Ecoscience. Originally trained as a veterinarian, he specialises in research on nature and the environment, focusing on pollution, climate change, biodiversity, and zoonoses. Since 1997, he has worked with fish, birds, seals, whales, polar bears, and humans in the Arctic—including Greenland—and specialises in ecotoxicology and the impact of the natural environment on human health (One Health). His work is utilized notably by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, the Arctic Council (AMAP), the Stockholm Convention, and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
