170 talented young people visited AU Viborg
On Saturday, 16th November, AU Viborg hosted 170 high school and HF students from the Academy for Talented Youth in Central Jutland. They all visited Denmark’s green campus to learn more about the future of sustainable agriculture and food production.
Buses from Aarhus and Herning arrived at the main entrance just before 1 PM, and around 170 high school and HF students from across Central Jutland poured out. They visited AU Viborg as part of the conclusion of the Academy for Talented Youth programme, a two-year course for talented and academically engaged high school and HF students.
The first item on the day’s agenda was an introductory lecture on the future of sustainable food, focusing on reducing antibiotic resistance, given by Charlotte Lauridsen, head of the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
Afterwards, the students dispersed into workshops covering everything from behavioural exercises with cows to plant-based foods, Agrivoltaics, and soil structure. Here, they got up close with new technologies and the latest research in sustainable agriculture and food production.
The day ended with dinner and socialising.
