Excellent result of the external audit of the quality management system for public sector consultancy
It went really well when the external audit of a number of departments and centres at Tech was carried out in connection with the recertification of the quality management system for public sector consultancy. The vice-dean praises employees who work with the system.
As the first of its kind in Europe, the comprehensive quality management system that ensures the high quality of Tech's public sector consultancy has been ISO9001 certified. To retain its certification, the system must undergo an in-depth external recertification audit every three years. This took place in weeks 22 and 23 with visits to ECE, AGRO, ECOS, DCA and DCE. The external audit was a success and the auditor praised the way the system is used by the organisation:
“The success of the external audit tells me that our employees are incredibly good at working with consultancy within the quality management system. The external audit did not find any deviations at the departments and centres, only a few minor deviations related directly to the system rather than the performance of tasks. And that's really great accomplishment," says Ole Hertel, Tech's vice-dean for public sector consultancy and business collaboration.
The few minor deviations, all of which are relatively uncomplicated to correct, were supplemented by 16 suggestions from the auditor on how we can make the system even better. This means that we can probably look forward to a new ISO9001 certificate on 1 September 2023 when the current certification expires. And that’s important, says Ole Hertel:
"With our quality management system and the ISO9001 certification, it’ll be easy for us to document the quality of our work. The certification is a seal of approval that shows we meet some clearly defined quality targets, which means we’ll be in a good position when selling our consultancy services. The ministries will also be assured that we do things the same way each time, that there’s consistency in how we work – in short, that we know what we’re doing.”
Quality managers from DCA, DCE and Tech will now decide how to rectify the identified deviations. This must be reported to the auditor before 15 August 2023.
