Last Friday, 31 student and career guidance counsellors from Studievalg Danmark and 15 of AU's own student counsellors visited AU Viborg to learn more about the three new study programmes: Plant and Food Science, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science.

Counsellors from all over Denmark heard presentations about job opportunities for graduates and the visions for campus, as well as academic presentations about the degree programmes.

“The visit to AU Viborg was very interesting for me as a student and career guidance counsellor at Studievalg Danmark. We had an opportunity to experience the pleasant atmosphere on campus and see how committed everyone was," says Birgitte Haubjerg, a student and career guidance counsellor at the Central and Western Jutland Studievalg Danmark centre. She continues:

"We got a thorough introduction to the three degree programmes – Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine and Plant and Food Science. We learned about the similarities and differences between the programmes, and one particular point I’ll really be able to use in my counselling is that animal science is about keeping healthy animals healthy whereas veterinary medicine is about making sick animals healthy.”

After lunch, the visitors were taken on a guided tour of campus, which included an introduction to the insect lab, cowshed and experimental fields, where the students will be spending much of their time.

"The visit to AU Viborg campus has made it much easier for me as a guidance counsellor to talk about the content of the degree programmes. That despite being theory-heavy, the programmes are also practice-oriented. And last but not least, I got a good sense of what it feels like to be there, which is very important to many students. All in all, it was a very interesting and well-planned day," says Birgitte Haubjerg.
