New network for new and prospective research parents
Are you on your way to maternity leave, have you just returned, or have you already been navigating the challenges of having a research career while raising small children for some time? Then the new network for new and prospective research parents might be something for you.
How do you bid a proper farewell to your research project as the pregnancy due date approaches? How can you best return to work after maternity leave? And what activities can you actually enjoy with your little ones in a city like Aarhus? These are all questions you can gain insights into through the new network for research parents, initiated by the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The network meets once a month in an informal setting, where researchers (including Ph.D. students) can share their experiences of life as upcoming or new parents at Aarhus University.
“At Tech, we are very pleased to have become part of Nat’s initiative for research parents. We hope that the network can provide a valuable opportunity, especially for our younger colleagues, to receive support in balancing being a young researcher and a parent simultaneously,” says Michelle H. Williams, Tech’s vice-dean for talent development and internationalisation. She continues:
“The new network provides a space to exchange experiences about going on maternity leave with fellow researchers across our two faculties or perhaps to gather good ideas for a successful return after maternity leave. Many naturally worry about their projects and careers, and we hope that the network can assist young researchers during this crucial phase of their lives.”
The network has no fixed agenda but will continuously focus on topics that matter to the participants, allowing ample room for sharing experiences and discussions. The network meets on the last Monday of each month at the university. Children and partners are very welcome.
