Universities gather at the first annual meeting at START
The end of March will mark exactly one year since Denmark’s eight universities launched START - Centre for SusTainable AgRifood sysTems. On 20 and 21 March, START will hold its first annual meeting with focus on the centre's special Triple-I approach to accelerate the green transition of agrifood systems.
How can interdisciplinarity across sciences contribute to creating increased impact and value in research? This will be one of the questions addressed at START’s first annual meeting on 20 and 21 March at Comwell Rebild Bakker.
"At START, we’re implementing the Triple-I approach, which is short for integrative, inclusive and interdisciplinary collaboration. Wageningen University & Research, a leading European university within agrifood research, has been working with this approach for many years. Therefore, we’ve invited three talented colleagues from Wageningen to attend the START annual meeting, where they’ll facilitate a masterclass and training session on the Triple-l approach," says START Coordinator Kristine Howe Kjer.

Work will continue in the eight START Research HUBs
Day two of the annual meeting has been dedicated to the START Research HUBs, where researchers from across the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities will meet to find new green solutions to the challenges currently facing the agrifood sector. START currently has eight thematic HUBs.
"For researchers at universities in Denmark, the START Research HUBs mean access to new networks, new partners, and new funding opportunities. In short, there is more chance of gaining impact in areas where we as a society desperately need new solutions. This is one thing we’re focusing on communicating to universities, so that together we can meet our goal to make START a European research powerhouse within agriculture and food," says Kristine Howe Kjer.
