The musk ox was brought back to life at The People's Festival of Nature
Up to 4.000 visitors stopped by Aarhus University’s stand at this year’s People's Festival of Nature in Hirtshals, which featured contributions from eight departments, centres and organisations spanning two different faculties.
The musk ox from Hirtshals has become a recurring feature of Aarhus University’s presence at The People's Festival of Nature. Once again this year, the musk ox stood at the entrance to the shared AU stand, which hosted more than 60 talks and activities over the course of the three-day event.
Visitors could, for example, explore the sea’s hidden jewellery workshop, discover the complexity of living soils, and learn more about a European collaboration on migratory birds. There was also lively debate about whether nature can thrive on its own or whether rewilding and adaptive management are needed. At no point was the musk ox fed.
Researchers, staff and students from Aarhus University contributed to 32 sessions on the main stages. In collaboration with a wide range of companies, organisations and stakeholders, The People's Festival of Nature has become an important platform for knowledge sharing, societal impact and networking. This year, the event attracted an estimated 30.000–35.000 visitors overall.
